Caramel Apple Bombs are a delicious fall-inspired treat featuring cinnamon-spiced apple filling wrapped in buttery crescent rolls, baked to golden perfection and topped with a smooth caramel drizzle and toasted pecans for added crunch. Perfect for dessert or a cozy snack.

Ingredients

Filling

  • 3.4 oz vanilla instant pudding mix
  • 0.5 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 2 small Granny Smith apples, peeled and chopped
  • 0.25 cup water

Dough

  • 16 oz refrigerated crescent dinner rolls
  • 3 tbsp butter, melted

Caramel Topping

  • 25 caramels
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 0.25 cup coarsely chopped pecans, toasted

Instructions

  1. Prepare Filling: In a bowl, combine 1/4 cup of the vanilla instant pudding mix, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg. Add the peeled and chopped Granny Smith apples and 1/4 cup water. Toss everything together to coat the apples evenly with the spiced pudding mixture.
  2. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9-inch round baking pan to prevent sticking.
  3. Assemble Bombs: Unroll the refrigerated crescent dough and separate into 16 triangles. On the shortest side of each triangle, place one heaping tablespoon of the apple mixture. Carefully fold the dough over the filling and pinch the edges tightly to seal the bombs completely.
  4. Arrange and Prepare for Baking: Place the sealed bombs seam side down in the prepared baking pan, arranging them evenly. Sprinkle the remaining pudding mix over the top and drizzle the melted butter evenly across the bombs.
  5. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 33 to 35 minutes or until the bombs turn a beautiful golden brown color. Allow them to cool slightly in the pan once baked.
  6. Make Caramel Drizzle: Melt the caramels along with the milk in the microwave, stirring frequently until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  7. Finish and Serve: Drizzle the warm caramel sauce over the baked apple bombs, then sprinkle the toasted chopped pecans on top for added texture and flavor. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • Ensure the dough triangles are sealed tightly to prevent filling leakage during baking.
  • Use Granny Smith apples for a tart contrast that balances the sweetness of the caramel.
  • To toast pecans, spread them on a baking sheet and toast in the oven at 350°F for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • For a quicker caramel sauce, use pre-made caramel sauce or caramel syrup.
  • These can be served as a delicious breakfast treat or dessert.
