This Decadent Coffee Panna Cotta is a rich and creamy Italian dessert infused with the bold flavor of strong brewed coffee. Silky smooth and lightly sweetened, it combines aromatic coffee with luscious cream and vanilla for an indulgent treat. Set in individual molds and chilled to perfection, it’s perfect for coffee lovers seeking an elegant, no-bake dessert.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup brewed strong coffee
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons gelatin powder
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Bloom the Gelatin: In a small bowl, sprinkle the gelatin over the cold water and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it swells and becomes spongy, preparing it for dissolution.
  2. Heat the Cream Mixture: In a saucepan, combine the heavy cream, sugar, brewed coffee, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Stir over medium heat until the sugar fully dissolves. Be careful not to let the mixture boil to avoid curdling.
  3. Dissolve the Gelatin: Remove the saucepan from the heat. Add the bloomed gelatin to the warm mixture and whisk thoroughly until it is completely dissolved with no lumps, ensuring a smooth texture.
  4. Pour and Chill: Pour the mixture into serving molds or ramekins, leaving a little room at the top. Place them in the refrigerator and chill for at least 4 hours, or until the panna cotta is fully set.
  5. Serve: To serve, briefly dip the bottom of the molds in hot water to loosen the panna cotta, then carefully invert onto serving plates. Garnish with whipped cream or chocolate shavings as desired for an elegant presentation.

Notes

  • Use freshly brewed strong coffee for the best flavor.
  • Do not boil the cream mixture to prevent it from separating.
  • Gelatin must be fully dissolved for a smooth panna cotta.
  • For a vegan version, substitute gelatin with agar-agar and use coconut cream instead of heavy cream.
  • Allow sufficient chilling time to ensure proper setting.
