Delicious French Dip Tortilla Roll Ups are a creative twist on the classic French dip sandwich, combining thinly sliced roast beef and melted cheese wrapped in soft flour tortillas. Baked to golden perfection and served with a flavorful au jus dipping sauce made from beef broth and savory seasonings, this appetizer is perfect for parties or a comforting snack.

Ingredients

For the Roll Ups

  • 1 lb thinly sliced roast beef
  • 1.5 cups shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese
  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley

For the Au Jus

  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  2. Assemble Roll Ups: Lay the flour tortillas flat on a clean surface. Evenly distribute the thinly sliced roast beef and shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese over each tortilla.
  3. Roll Tortillas: Carefully roll each tortilla tightly from the bottom up, folding the sides inward as you roll to keep the fillings secure and prevent spilling.
  4. Butter and Season: Brush the outside of each rolled tortilla with melted butter, then sprinkle garlic powder, onion powder, and dried parsley evenly over the surface to add flavor and aid browning.
  5. Bake the Roll Ups: Place the prepared roll ups on the lined baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the tortillas are golden brown and the cheese inside has melted.
  6. Prepare Au Jus: While the roll ups bake, combine beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in a saucepan. Simmer the mixture over medium heat for 5 to 7 minutes to develop deep, savory flavors.
  7. Slice and Serve: Once baked, slice the rolled tortillas into bite-sized pieces. Serve warm with the prepared au jus dipping sauce on the side for dipping.

Notes

  • Use thinly sliced roast beef for the best texture and flavor.
  • Provolone or mozzarella cheese works well, but feel free to use your preferred melting cheese.
  • Ensure tortillas are soft and pliable to prevent breaking when rolling.
  • Adjust salt and pepper in the au jus according to your taste preference.
  • These roll ups are best served fresh but can be reheated in the oven to retain crispiness.
  • For a gluten-free version, substitute tortillas with gluten-free wraps.
