These Gooey Mozzarella Pepperoni Croissant Rolls are a quick and delicious appetizer or snack made with crescent roll dough, melted mozzarella, and spicy pepperoni. Baked to golden perfection with a buttery, Italian herb glaze, they are perfect served warm with marinara sauce for dipping.

Ingredients

For the Rolls

  • 1 package Crescent Roll Dough (pre-made dough)
  • 8 oz Mozzarella Cheese (fresh slices or shredded)
  • 24 slices Pepperoni (3 slices per roll)
  • 1 Egg (optional, for egg wash)
  • 2 tbsp Butter (melted)
  • 1 tsp Italian Seasoning (fresh herbs can be substituted)
  • 1 cup Marinara Sauce (optional, for dipping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it is ready for baking the rolls evenly.
  2. Prepare Dough: Open the crescent roll dough package and gently separate it into individual triangles to form the base for your rolls.
  3. Add Cheese: Place a generous slice or amount of mozzarella cheese on the wide end of each crescent triangle.
  4. Layer Pepperoni: Arrange 3 slices of pepperoni evenly over the mozzarella cheese on each triangle.
  5. Roll Up: Starting from the wide end, carefully roll each triangle up, enclosing the cheese and pepperoni inside and tucking the filling as you go to prevent spilling.
  6. Apply Egg Wash: If using, brush the tops of the rolls with a beaten egg to help them achieve a shiny, golden crust.
  7. Arrange on Baking Sheet: Place the prepared rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving some space between them for even cooking.
  8. Butter & Seasoning: Melt the butter and stir in the Italian seasoning, then brush this flavorful mixture over the tops of the rolls for added taste and richness.
  9. Bake: Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 12 to 14 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and the cheese inside is melted and gooey.
  10. Cool and Serve: Let the rolls cool for about 3 minutes before serving warm, ideally with marinara sauce for dipping to complement the flavors.

Notes

  • Use fresh mozzarella slices for the best gooey texture, though shredded works fine as well.
  • The egg wash is optional but recommended for a glossy, golden finish on the croissant rolls.
  • Substitute Italian seasoning with fresh chopped basil, oregano, or a pinch of garlic powder if preferred.
  • These rolls are best enjoyed warm, fresh out of the oven.
  • Leftovers can be reheated in the oven to restore crispiness rather than microwaving.
