These easy Oreo cake balls are a delightful no-bake treat combining the rich flavor of crushed Oreos with creamy softened cream cheese, all coated in smooth white candy melts. Perfect for parties, holidays, or a simple sweet snack, they offer a deliciously creamy, crunchy texture and customizable coating options.

Ingredients

Base

  • 24 Oreos
  • 4 oz softened cream cheese

Coating

  • 10 oz white candy melts (Ghirardelli brand recommended)
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream (only if candy melts need thinning)

Instructions

  1. Crush Oreos: Finely crush 24 Oreos using a food processor or by placing them in a sealed zip-top bag and crushing with a rolling pin. Transfer the Oreo crumbs to a mixing bowl.
  2. Combine with cream cheese: Add 4 oz of softened cream cheese to the Oreo crumbs. Mix thoroughly with a spoon or spatula until a cohesive mixture forms that holds its shape when squeezed. Add more cream cheese by the teaspoon if the mixture is too dry.
  3. Form cake balls: Scoop out 1-inch portions of the mixture and roll them into smooth, compact balls. Place the balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet and freeze for at least 15-20 minutes until firm.
  4. Melt candy melts: Melt 10 oz of white candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval until smooth. If the melted candy is too thick, stir in heavy cream 1 teaspoon at a time to thin it out.
  5. Coat cake balls: Dip the chilled cake balls into the melted candy melts using a fork or dipping tool, coating them thoroughly. Return the excess coating to the bowl. Place the coated balls back onto the parchment-lined baking sheet.
  6. Set coating: Allow the coated cake balls to set at room temperature for 10-15 minutes until the coating firms up. For extra decoration, drizzle with additional melted candy melts or dark chocolate.
  7. Chill and serve: Refrigerate the cake balls for at least 30 minutes to fully set the coating and firm them up before serving. Serve at room temperature for best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Using softened cream cheese is key for easy mixing and shaping.
  • Freeze the cake balls before coating to prevent melting and ensure smooth dipping.
  • Heavy cream is optional and only needed if the candy melts are too thick for smooth coating.
  • Store cake balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  • For variety, try different candy melt colors or add sprinkles before the coating sets.
