The Blueberry Thyme Gin Fizz is a refreshing and aromatic cocktail that perfectly balances the tartness of fresh lemon juice with the natural sweetness of homemade blueberry syrup. This fizzy drink is garnished with fresh blueberries and sprigs of thyme, making it an elegant and vibrant cocktail perfect for warm weather or special occasions.

Ingredients

For the Blueberry Syrup

  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water

For the Cocktail

  • 4 ounces gin
  • 2 ounces fresh lemon juice
  • 2 ounces blueberry syrup (prepared as above)
  • Club soda, to top
  • Ice cubes
  • Fresh blueberries, for garnish
  • Sprigs of thyme, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Blueberry Syrup: In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of blueberries, 1/2 cup of sugar, and 1/2 cup of water. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves and the blueberries break down, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool completely. Strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve to remove solids, then store it in the refrigerator until ready to use.
  2. Mix the Cocktail: Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add 4 ounces of gin, 2 ounces of fresh lemon juice, and 2 ounces of the prepared blueberry syrup. Shake well until the mixture is thoroughly chilled.
  3. Assemble the Drink: Fill two glasses with ice cubes. Strain the chilled cocktail mixture evenly into the glasses. Top each glass with club soda and stir gently to combine.
  4. Garnish and Serve: Garnish each glass with a sprig of thyme and a few fresh blueberries to enhance the cocktail’s aroma and visual appeal. Serve immediately and enjoy your Blueberry Thyme Gin Fizz.

Notes

  • Use fresh lemon juice for the best flavor intensity.
  • Syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less sugar to the syrup according to taste.
  • For a non-alcoholic version, omit gin and increase club soda or substitute with a sparkling water flavor of choice.
  • Ensure to shake well with ice to achieve a perfectly chilled cocktail.
