This Grilled Pineapple recipe offers a sweet and smoky treat perfect as a dessert or side dish. Fresh pineapple rings and spears are brushed with a luscious honey-cinnamon butter sauce, then grilled to caramelized perfection, creating a delightful balance of flavors and a beautiful presentation.

Ingredients

Fruit

  • 2 pineapples (peeled and cored)

Sauce

  • ½ cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ⅛ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pineapple: Slice one pineapple into 8 rings by cutting horizontally. Cut the other pineapple into spears by halving lengthwise, then cutting each half into quarters lengthwise, and halving again to make 8 spears total.
  2. Preheat the Grill: Heat your grill to medium-high and lightly oil the grill grate to prevent sticking.
  3. Make the Sauce: In a medium bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, honey, ground cinnamon, and salt, stirring well to create a smooth sauce.
  4. Brush the Pineapple: Using a pastry brush, generously coat both pineapple rings and spears with the prepared sauce.
  5. Grill the Pineapple: Place pineapple pieces on the grill and cook for 2–3 minutes per side. Re-brush each side with the sauce before flipping. For the rings, after flipping, rotate them 45 degrees to achieve attractive diamond grill marks.
  6. Serve Warm: Remove pineapples from the grill and serve warm. Enjoy them plain or pair with vanilla ice cream for an indulgent dessert.

Notes

  • To enhance grill marks on the rings, rotate the pineapple 45 degrees halfway through cooking each side.
  • Use fresh, ripe pineapples for the best sweetness and texture.
  • Watch the grill closely to avoid burning the sugar in the sauce.
  • Serve immediately for optimal flavor and warmth.
  • This recipe can be doubled or halved easily depending on servings needed.
