Oven Fried Feta Rolls with Chili Honey are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer featuring a savory cheese filling wrapped in crispy phyllo dough, baked until golden, and paired with a sweet and spicy chili-infused honey drizzle. Perfect for entertaining or a flavorful snack, these rolls combine creamy feta and ricotta with aromatic herbs and spices.

Ingredients

Cheese Filling

  • 8 oz feta cheese, crumbled
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Phyllo Dough Rolls

  • 1 package (10 oz) phyllo dough, thawed
  • 4 tbsp melted butter
  • Olive oil spray

Chili Honey

  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 tsp chili flakes (adjust to taste)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prepare for baking the rolls.
  2. Prepare the Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine crumbled feta, ricotta cheese, dried oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated into a creamy filling.
  3. Prepare Phyllo Dough: Carefully unroll the thawed phyllo dough on a clean flat surface. Keep it covered with a damp cloth to prevent it from drying out during the assembly process.
  4. Assemble the Rolls: Take one sheet of phyllo dough and brush it evenly with melted butter. Place another sheet on top and brush again. Cut the layered dough into rectangles about 4 inches wide. Place a spoonful of the cheese filling at one end of each rectangle, then tightly roll the dough around the filling, folding in the ends to secure it inside.
  5. Arrange on Baking Sheet: Position the rolled phyllo seam-side down on the parchment-lined baking sheet. Lightly spray the tops of the rolls with olive oil to help them crisp beautifully during baking.
  6. Bake: Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and crisp to the touch, indicating they are perfectly cooked.
  7. Make the Chili Honey: While the rolls bake, gently heat the honey in a small saucepan over low heat. Add chili flakes and let the mixture simmer for a few minutes, allowing the flavors to infuse thoroughly. Remove from heat and set aside for serving.

Notes

  • Keep phyllo dough covered with a damp cloth to prevent it from drying out during assembly.
  • Adjust chili flakes in the honey to control the level of spiciness according to your preference.
  • Serve the rolls hot for the best texture and melty cheese experience.
  • These rolls pair wonderfully with yogurt-based dips such as tzatziki or fresh herb garnishes like parsley or dill.
  • You can prepare the chili honey ahead of time and gently reheat before serving.
